Chainsaw

An illustration of a chainsaw created using strips of a photocopy and biro. Even though this image is fairly simple it looks very effective against the pure white background.

Deforestation Collage

This piece was created during a project of mine about deforestation. It was inspired by collage artist Njideka Akunyili who creates intricate illustrations using vibrant colours.

Repetition

This piece was inspired by an illustrator called Nate Kitch who performed a lecture during the Pre Degree Foundation Course. I originally just had the one image of the woman's face but found that repeating the image and putting a grainy filter over it made it look more interesting. Also I think that combining both digital images and hand drawn illustrations together is very successful.

Printmaking

These are prints made using etching plates. The design has come from a tonal painting exercise that focused on drawing various objects and the highlights and shadows that surround them. Printing is a very effective medium for creating lots of professional looking imagery.

Mind Map

I find mind maps a very good way of visually organising my ideas. This layout helps create links between thoughts in a clear way. This mind map is based on my idea of creating illustrations based on Scroobius Pip's lyrics.

Heartbreak Hotel

This piece was inspired by spoken word artist Scroobius Pip's lyrics which have a satirical tone to them. I have used fine liners and indian ink to create this illustration.

Microscopic Photograms

I used microscope lenses to create photograms that experimented with opacity and layers.  I liked using the 5x2cm sized  photographic paper as it extenuated the small scale of the lenses and created a strong composition.
